My daughter is starting the clarinet. I am a trombone player and don't know a whole lot about clarinets. I have been looking and I wonder what model you folks would recommend that she start out on. I have been looking at B 12's, Evette's, several Selmer models, but I really don't know one from the other or which one is best, also several Yamaha's. Which of these would you recommend assuming they are in equal condition, or are there other models that I did not mention that would be better? thanks for your help

Hi. There's a lot of great models out there for beginners, I can imagine you being just as confused as I would be if I had to buy a trombone(the confusion does not bear thinking about).

Yamaha at the moment are doing a really good student range of clarinets. The YCL250SUK is an excellent beginner model as is it's relative the YCL-450S, the intermediate model.

We use them in the schools I teach in and they are great for kids. The 250 being the basic model and the 450 the intermediate model.

Two of many out there, good luck
