Welcome to the world of the clarinet!! I hope you grow to love it! I personally have never heard of simba clarinets so i cant say if they are good or not. as for a fingering chart. i would go here http://www.wfg.woodwind.org/clarinet/ this should be enough for a beginner.. if you have any questions dont be afraid to post back here!

I personally don't have much faith in the simba brand. 1) they are sold at sams club, which isn't exactly what I would consider a reputable instrument dealer. 2) their website isn't informative at all, I investigated it about 7 months ago when my friend recieved a simba sax for christmas (which she eventually traded in for an alto clarinet, good choice! ) 3) their website advertises a "Professional series B-flat clarinet" at $210. crazy cheap for "professional" which I highly doubt it is.

that being said, I've never actually seen, let alone played, a simba clarinet, so it might play well. I'm merely suspicious.

On a side note, you said it's wooden? what model is it? from what I can tell, simba doesn't make a wooden clarinet.

I'm a flutist, but I've heard quite a bit about Simba flutes on messages boards. They are made in China. This means that some are good and some aren't. Hopefully you got a good one. If it breaks or doesn't play well, I suggest that you look at purchasing a used studnet clarinet in good condition.

I've been playing clarinet for 10 years, and i've never heard of this brand, but it may be a good one to start out on. If you want something a little better, try to fid a good student clarinet, like a selmer something. You may want to see if they have anything at you're school that you can use to learn on. I know that when i started they had a program where you could rent one for 6 months, and then if you wanted to buy it then, you could.

Good luck with everything!!

If it's wood textured resonite, GET RID OF THAT THING! That was the absolute WORST horn I have EVER played in my life. I HIGHLY recommend Yamaha or Selmer (Selmer is quite often bashed, but I personally have found my Signet to be my favorite.).

NO,NO,& NO. 'Those only last about a year'. That's what my old band director told me when I brought one of those in. And that's only for your beg. year. If you are serious about playing the clar, please get another one.

I agree with infernalice, Yamahas are good and buffets are okay. But at least your clar is made out of wood..

GET RID OF THE SIMBA!!! ok, im a clarinet player and i work at a music store and our repairmen constantly have problems repairing simba instruments... they dont last long they constantly have leaks, things fall off, pads arent put on right, corks arent either and the keys bend very easily... ive seen the keys bend like a piece of tin. If you want to be serious about the clarinet buy a yamaha or a buffet before you waiste money on a bunch of repairs... any model instrument named after a character form the lion king has to be kinda suspicious. lol
