Okay so my friends say it was because I practice way too much but the cork in two of my joints wore off. And so, as a friend of mine said, my clarinet was falling apart. I dropped my clarinet three times durring marching practice (but its not like I don't take care of my clarinet like some of my friends who will be unnamed). Anyway, my 200 something dollar mouthpeice got chipped RREEAALLYY bad and now I have to get another one.

How much does your mouth peice cost, what brand is it, and does it work well enough for all state?

Should I get a cheap one, the same expensive one, or a cheap one and an expensive one for marching season and concert season?

First of all, what were you doing marching with your $200 mouthpiece?! lol. I dont march cuz im drum major, but yea, just buy a clark fobes debut to march with. My concert mouthpiece is a Bradford Bayne (i think thats how you spell it) handmade. It was $250 and definitely state-worthy. I need to get Brad to touch it up, but o well. If you have to buy a new one id suggest maybe an M-15 or B45/B45 Lyre, they are dependable

I've learned my lesson drum major sir...or mam. I broke out crying while marching and that totally sucks. One question tho, how long do you think it takes to adjust to a new mouthpeice? Thanks a lot, you've been more help than the section leader. I'll check out the brands and see if i cant get my mom into buying me two mouth peices or something.

itll probably take about a week or two to adjust to a new mouthpiece depending on how often you play on it.

vandoren B45 or B45 lyre are nice blowing in UK they cost around £60,I also have a italian crystal sapphire mouthpiece which produces a lovely tone and they also cost around £60.....not quite sure what would happen if you dropped one though !!!!

tahnks for replying. Anyhow I got a new one and its a Vandoren 45 though I wanted the same brand as my old one. I havn't opened it yet cuz i wasn't sure if i should keep it. Some are saying that 45 makes your tone fuzzy.

The italian sapphire crystal sounds cool...this might be a stupid question but is it clear?

i play using a b45 mouthpiece on an R13 buffet~ it works great, i find the tone really comes out, especially when using vandoren reeds
my teacher recommended this mouthpiece for me and it has improved my tone 10-fold
fuzzyness i find depends on your embouchure
id say a great choice

Well how about a medium priced one? Bout $50?? Marching practise you could buy an expensive one !
