Ok here's is the pathetic situation I am in:

-first audition (westchester) is on Jan 30
-This is my "safety school"
-I have put off finding a piece for a while now
-I will have three more auditions in late feb/early march
-I probably should find a relatively easy piece
Any suggestions?

If this helps, I played "Gavotte and Minuet" by John Stanley for my diocesian audition and got 5th chair out of 10. Last year I got 4th chair playing Gavotte out of "solos for the clarinet palyer."

Is there hope for me?

Well for the AMEB (AUSTRALIAN) Grades The Gavotte from the Clarinet Solos is only a Grade 4 Standard... Depending on which country you live in Depends on what kind of piece you have to play..

For Australians To audition for University (College) WE have to be of a AmusA standard

Our Grades are 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 AmusA LmusA

AmusA and LmusA are Diplomas..

This includes repertoire such as

Copland Concerto
Mozart Concerto
Debussy Premiere Rhapsody
Muczynski Time Pieces
Brahms 2 Sonatas
Spohr 4 Concertos
Nielsen Concerto
Stravinsky 3 Pieces

Around that standard....

Yeah I guess that helps, but I simply do not have the talent to play those pieces. I may just play a lower grade and see what happens.

To the person above from Australia, it purely depends on WHERE you are auditioning. That may be true for somewhere like Sydney or Queensland but for other states, you can get away with a 6th or 7th grade audition repertoire (ie. Lutoslawki Dance Preludes, Schumann Fantasty Pieces/Romances, Hurlstone 4 Characteristic Pieces. When I auditioned for the conservatorium initially, I played at a 6th grade standard.

I don`t know what this "grade" thing is. I dont think we use those therms i Europe, but when I auditioned to the "norwegian academy of music" in oslo and the concervatory of music in Bergen(also norway) you have to play a repertoire that everyone has to play, and in most parts og Europe its: Weber: Concertino, Schumann fantasypieces(one of them) and a piece you decide for for your self. I choose Poulenc, Sonata for Clarinet and piano.
I recommend Schumann, it`s very easy tecnicallly.
