After playing the bass clari for six years, I can recommend to anyone the sheer pleasure of playing a bass solo. The deep wooded mellow tone of the bass, is extremely underestimated and underused in a band situation. After being part of a quintet, the bass provides the stability and basis for the entire ensemble. For bass clari band members, I recommend you to play the "lord of the rings" symphonic band piece as it has an awesome bass clari/baritone sax solo six bars in. Tips for bass players is to choose a bass that comes apart in the middle as it is a lot easier to carry!!
