Hey Kate, Ive been play the Clarinet for 3 years and im a first clarinet and you olny put a little bit of the reed in your mouth. Email me about anting else you need to know about the Clarinet. Also about you getting light headed that totally normal. I got the same way when I play high notes too high. You are normal to the note being high. Don`t worry you will get it.

Acox, those who really into music probably heard of him, give me a solo but two years of experience doesn`t seems to be enougth for me. I can`t control my tone. Hey! Also how to minimize the air sound? When I play really quiet, the air sound is louder than my tone. Anyone knows how to get rid of that?

Hi Kate and Lrac and everyone- i`ve been playinf clarinet for 3 years now- and with endurance, commitment and loads of practice, i`ve gotten to be quite advanced for the amount of time i`ve been playing( well- thats what my instructors and my tutor tell me, but i`m usually alot harder on myself) and to minimize that airy sound- so it doesnt overpower the actual note- i have learned to have a tight embouchure ( try saying wee and holding your lips in the same place wile saying two-exaggerate your lip movements) and also blow fast air- that doesnt always mean u will be loud, but u will be ALOT more in tune, and the note should come out more focused instead of the airy sound that usually plagues aspiring young musicians like yourself.
Bye the way- Yamahas rule- not really- in the clarinet making biz, even Buffets out perform them- but as far as the best, Leblancs all the way!!! Try a french-made clarinet out for size, or, if you can- a Leblanc, I play the Concerto(1189s) and the Opus (1190s) in the wind ensemble i perform with- and trust me, they are the best proffesional clarinets on the market!

Hey Kate,
Try not to blow that hard. I played the clarient since i was in the 5th grade and just blew in it really soft and it came out. Or maybe your pressing another key. And also put your mouth on your reed lit a inch or try to find your best spot.

Hi! I`ve been playing clarinet for 5 yrs. About how much reed to use... I`ve heard different things, but my directors say that it is better to take in as much as you can without squeaking. But I say just try it until you find whats right! I never had too much problems with the clarinet when I was learning, but like everyone says LOTS OF PRACTICE! E-mail me if you want. I have Yahoo messanger Webdisgnr101@yahoo.com
