What's typical, and of whom?

The judges usually give a lot of "1's" at local S & E contests. It's quite difficult for most people to play a true solo for a judge, so they normally cut some slack if it sounds like you learned the music and can mostly play it. Mistakes happen, especially with younger musicians. Congrats!

Whatever. All I know is that the judges around here are TOUGH. Especially the ones that aren't native players (my main is oboe - the judge was a trombonist *rolls eyes*).

I had an oboe judge and I got a two. If it weren't for the fact that my teacher ended up being the chair person in my room I probably would have gotten a three. She helped to calm me down to the piont where I could play an ok performance. She's awesome! I love her to death!
