I just recently rented a clarinet (Yamaha 250) I think and I've already been playing bass clarinet for a while. On my bass clarinet I can get really good tone, but on my bass clarinet most notes sound really breathy and not pure. The low notes sound more pure, but still are a little breathy. I've only been playing clarinet for a few days now, but I don't want to learn bad habbits.

Oh and also, on high notes, I have a tuner and I've tryed to play high notes and they go WAYYY sharp. Almost all my other notes are fine but after going over A and B flat (middle line) it goes reallly sharp. This happens on my bass clarinet sometimes, but not so extreme.

Any help would be nice ;D

i play soprano clari - but the problem sounds familar.
i find two reasons for this;
1) the reed may be too soft, could try going harder...
2) the reed may be too low on the mouthpiece ie. try sliding the reed higher on the mouthpiece, even to the stage that it hangs over the tip of the mpc a little (sorry, i didnt really know how to explain this. this also makes the reed react like a harder reed.
harder reeds tend to make higher notes more in tune and less airy - but it does mean the lower notes lose a bit of their tone/depth.

i hope that this helps

I've tried a harder reed and its still bad :/

And with a harder reed I can't hit low notes xD

It sounds like theres water in my clarinet but there is none O_O
