Have anyone ever used a crystal mouthpiece yet? I`ve seen it on the internet recently and it looks great. It`s quite pricey though and I heard that it`s easy to shatter. Is there an advantage to using one?

ive never used one but i heard my fiends teacher playing on one and the sound was kinda harsher and it projected a lot

I tried one out after my mouth piece shattered right before a district constest (lol, i had to use someone elses). When I went to the music store, they had the crystal one and the one i bought, a vandoren B45. when i tried the crystal one, it sounded brighter and crisper. I liked it alot, but since it was clear i didn`t think it would look too good in marching band. So i bought the more expensive one and I am very happy with it. Its up to you, but they do have a great sound!

I like the crystal mouthpiece for the same reasons previously stated, the crisp clear tones and full sound. I feel I can play louder with it than others. The only criticism i have is you loose the mello woody tones a traditional mouthpiece gives.

i own two crystal mouthpieces, a Vandoren[which are not made anymore] and a Pomarico, i find that the sound is much mellower, and that the sound projection is amazing, also i find that they do not sacrifice the sound of weak reeds, although the Vandoren cost £750, and the Pomarico only £100 i do find the Pomarico has a much nicer tone.
