So, I am deprived of music to play x_x!

Does anyone know of any good method books that focus on technique and playing well? I've tried a few, but there just ones my band has given out. I want a real method book.

Also if anyone has links to websites with clarinet music that would help a lot ^o^. I've only been playing for about 2 years, so it can't be too hard.

Any advice would help a lot ^_^

A large book, nearly 300 pages. Scale, chord, low register and articulation studies. There are also duets and pieces as well.

This site has pieces for clarinet and piano/voice/strngs, unaccompanied clarinet, and method books as well.

Another book I have been using is called "24 Clarinet Studies for Beginners" by Victor Polatschek.
Despite the title, this is more for intermediate players. There are studies for legato, rhythmic, staccato, large intervals, turns and grace notes.

But the first two books are a good start, the Polatschek may be hard to find. But if you do see it in your store, take a look and see if you're ready for it.

i use the Baermann book. you can use the clarinet one for both soprano and bass- they have one adapted for lower clarinets but it cuts off the high range which i think is lame. if the clarinet one goes higher than you can play either learn the notes, or just take them down (i do both, depending how high they go)

i also use Lester's "the developing clarinetist" which is more like etudes, whereas baermann is more like exercises.

I think Im probably looking for something 70% actual pieces (such as melodies) and 30% scales, rhythm, arpeggios ect.
