Hey guys my post got deleted so now im !***!ed and writing is shorter.. uh Im having trouble getting any note higher than a Bb or lower than a low A out :O do u know what is wrong with it? Other wise i will take it to the shop. I am in 9th grade. Go to Magruder High School. Thankie.

Hmmm...maybe a leak. For anything higher than the Bb ill say to try to get you embechure better. I don't know how long you've been playing so saying that may help. I can play higher than a G which is Said to be the highest note for clarinet but i know music unlitmited in many ways so try hard every time. If you get a note but then it dies out, YOU GOT IT! Just improve that embechure. Something that shows how good your embechure is by playing a B then hold it for a while then remove the register key. If you can keep it as long as your breath can hold then its good. If you think its your clarinet then try using someone elses that you KNOW works. If its your clarinet then cover all the holes in your clarinet blow into it without the mouthpiece or barrel. If you hear or feel any air coming out then its your clarinet. Grrrr....thats all i know. UH gordo (hahaha i speak spanish i know what that means :D) ive been playing since 6th grade so about 3 1/2 years :D so i know about this embrocheure thing since my middle school teacher put me through hell through it since my mouth is weird.. and besides ive discovered that sometimes my C above the break sometimes comes out but when i go to a D nothing comes out then when i try to play a C again nothing comes out.. im giving my clarinet a time out. so can you help more :D thanks. i am taking it to the store tomorrow friday

Ummm...ok. Since you say that you mouth is umm..wierd, then try another instrument. Its pretty hard to JUST change but it can be useful. I think the flute will be good to play. I play it and the first time you play it you will get constant light headedness. Trumpet realy hurts your lips and Sax doesnt require all that much embechure except on low notes which JUST require for you to drop your jaw. Get a good pick because the clarinet requires A WHOLE LOT of embechure.

um maybe you werent listening but ive been playing the clarinet for 3 1/2 years so i cant just switch like that because im in an advanced band and if i switch to a new instrument ill be put in a lower class with beginners so i cant switch.. besides i dont like the flute heh no offense to any flute players. so im taking it to the shop after im done with work then hopefully they can find the problem with it and fix it asap cuz i have alot of solos in my songs. but gordo thanks for the input

i think it is you or maybe your mouthpeice not just the clarinet but just to make sure i would adjust all the screws and get it repadded so there you go

if you've been able to get hte notes out in the past and this is a recent development, either youve done something weird to your embochure or its the horn.

if you've never been able to get them out its probably you.

don't switch instruments just because you've found something that will take work- with taht strategy, you'd never become proficient at anything!

try slurring up/down to the notes before trying to hit them isolated...

you could try play testing someone elses clarinet and having them play yours to determine if it is your clarinet or you.

Get a new reed. It may be softened up, high notes don't do well on reeds that aren't firm anymore. Or, if it's new, moisten it up more. Check your corks, if they aren't staying in place or have cracked, get a proffesional to look at em. Move the clarinet closer to your body, tighten your embouchure, and have your fingers covering the keys completely.

you could try a differant mouthpeice, it might just be the mouthpiece openings and stuff aren't righ for you mouth.

If you droped it then you should take it to the shop because you might have bent a key. this happed to my friend. She droped it, took it to the shop and now it works again. Hope this helps.

seal all the holes that needed to be sealed,
fix your reed,
line up the side perfectly where the 3rd and 4th pieces fit together?
If so bring it to the shop X3

I can play almost to super c!!! (The c at the top of the clarinets range) and I play bass clarinet in my 7/8th grade band!!!
