How do you find the age of a buffete crampton clarinet with no serial number. Even my band teacher doesnt know. A fundraiser guy at my school that used to be a band director thought that from the case that it is form the late 30's to the early 40's. Any ideas?

thoughtout the normal overhaul process of a clarinet technicians may buff the wood. During this process some wood is lost (like super fine polishing sandpaper)

over the years the serial number can get wiped out. I did it on my early 1930s K series Selmer clarinet .. or was it a L series? I've forgotten .. it's not there anymore.

Anyways, Buffets have some specific identifiers.
