A few days ago I brought my clarinet into a room where earlier they had been disecting cats. It was in the case the entire time and was only in there for 45 min. but somehow now it smells like formaldehyde. Anyone know how to get the smell out? It`s a buffet greenline r13 if that helps...

My first suggestion is to get some green apples. Cut them into wedges or slices and place them in the clarinet case, leave the case open and be sure you place the apple slices on a piece of plastic, glass, or something to keep them from direct contact with instrument or case. The smell/odor should be gone in a day or two.

Second suggestion, check your local yellow pages for companies who take care of fire damage. They have special devices that ionize the air to neutralize odors. They also have ionization boxes they put clothing and other items in. For a clarinet, they might be able to include it in a box that is being used for someone elses damaged house and maybe they'll only chargey you $5 or something to let it sit there for 24 hours.

You can buy a cheap air ionizer for about $10 at a garage sale or on ebay. My mom got one, and all it dose is give the air a weird smell, but it dose get rid of all the other odors.

Try leaving the case outside in the sun (If there is any where you are!) for a few hours which hopefully will cause the chemical to evaporate.
