Hi,

I've been playing on a plastic student Bundy clarinet and lately I've been thinking of upgrading.

Info: I play at the late intermediate level - I would like to get a good wood clarinet - and I plan to play mostly indoors with maybe a couple of outdoor gigs.

Can any of you give me some good clarinet models I could upgrade to? If you need more information just ask me and I'll try to give it.

I have a Leblanc Rapsodie L1012S for sale for $800 if you are interested. New, it goes for $1400-$1600. It is in excellent condition. If you are interested and want some pics, email me at jkmv45@gmail.com

If you can do it go for a Buffet R13.

Hi!
I haven't really dealt with Leblanc much at all, so I can't really tell you much on that! However, I think a good upgrade clarinet would be a Buffet E11 or E-13. If you don't want a second mortgage, I wouldn't recommend a Buffet R-13! These are really for professionals who have enough money and are really serious and want to take music to a professional level! Other intermediate clarinets might be:
Yamaha 450
Yamaha 650
Boosey & Hawkes Edgeware (If findable!)
Boosey & Hawkes Imperial (If findable!)
The B&H clarinets are in huge supply on eBay, last time I checked! If you can, go for a B&H Imperial in GOOD condition! I have one and it's wonderful! Be cautious on eBay, though!
Good Luck!

Thank y'all!!

JKMV16: Thanks for the offer but I think I'll keep looking for something a little cheaper. I really appreciate it though! Are you by chance a ham radio operator?

If you want an intermediate level clarinet that is good quality, and will last a long while. A Buffet E-11 is a good choice, it is all wood and has a bore similar to that of the far more expensive R-13. I personally love it, it was such a versatile instrument, I played soprano sax parts on it for jazz and also tried out for the Regional Band, it held its own. Since then, I have upgraded, but it was nothing wrong with the E11.

Recently at the NYSSMA Conference, I got to try out some of the new Buffets. Their new intermediate instrument, the Limite, was fantastic, and I think runs for a little cheaper than the E-11. I would give it a look. I was talking to the rep and he said that they expect them to sell very well.

Kkmv16: I only asked because your username sounded like a ham radio operaters call sign. My brother is one.

Thanks to everyone for the advice!!
