Hi all!
My clarinet is a Boosey & Hawkes Imperial 926 and I love it to bits! I play in a concert band I love doing that too! But in band, many clarinettists have short barrels for tuning. I have been told I need one and it would make life a lot easier!
Does anyone know where I can get one?

A Vandoren B45, I like it a lot!

The mouthpiece could be the reason for your tuning problem unless you have had it reamed out to match the 926 bore. If you have a genuine 926 mouthpiece try that for tuning but ignore the sound. Because it's so long now since B&H clarinets have been produced many people don't know about the need for special mouthpieces for the 926 & 1010 bores.

No, I don't have an original mouthpiece unfortunately, it came with the B45.

I definitely have an original 926 vintage unused mouthpiece from the stock of a former professional clarinetist/instrument repairer. I have just sold two of these on ebay at just over £100.

I also have a 593 which apparent works but is not as good as the 926. If you want to post a reply or respond then I would happily list this one for you.

I should also have said that I have lots of barrels listed on ebay at the moment but I have not yet put on the ones which I think are 926 or possibly 1010,s Again if you are interested I can list these.

Yes, my alter ego is m145jp. The big collection of barrels I have currently listed is a mixed bag. I haven't yet listed the 926. I'm not a player so I don't really know what I'm doing with this stuff.

It would be useful if you could check out with your fellow band members the dimensions of the particular tuning barrel you need. The one I have labelled "926" is wooden, has metal rings which don't have any ridges and B&H logo on the front. I don't think its been used, but in honesty I must say that it has a couple of marks on it - probably from being in a case with others but it is not as grim as some of the ones in my job lot. Its 67mm long. I do have one other which is similar but it is not stamped B&H. This one is 65 mm long.

All my items have been inherited from a former semi pro musician who was passionate about dance music.

But that varies between makes of instrument & players.

If you try using a 1010 mouthpiece on a 926 will have intonation problems because of the bore difference.

I was actually suggesting that since I know nothing at all and that the fellow members of the band would have the advantage of being able to see the poster's clarinet and that they might know what type of barrel he should be trying to find. Most of mine are labelled "short"....which makes me thing that there may also be others that are "long"

I think usually there's just standard and short! You might be able to get a 'long' one, but I've never heard of them!
