Hey i have read through some topics on here about solos. Howeever, i can't find anyhting i could probably be able to play decently within 6 weeks along with two duets and of coarse concert band. This is for solo and ensamble. I am a freshman and i play clarinet. in our all district band last year (8th grade) i somehow managed to make first chair clarinet out of 68 people who tried out. this year i (again somehow) managed to make 2nd chair in high school concert band out of 17 high school students. I am looking for a piece that is somewhat easy to play. not maijorly like elementry band easy but more intermediate. i want something that is kinda pretty and or fun to play and amusing. i am obviously lacking in the knowlage of good composers. Thank you ^.^

What kind of stuff have you played before? This might help us be able to suggest something. I know that some of my favorite intermediate pieces include...

Divertimento, Robert Donahue
Arabesques, JeanJean (This might be a challenge, but it's a great piece)
Six Studies in English Folksong, Vaughn Williams (This is a great piece, the first 5 movements are incredibly lyrical and the final movement is a short little up tempo piece that shows off a bit more technique).

I'll take a look around at my library and get back to you if I find anything else! Good luck!

The Vaughn Williams? You could find it at luyben music or hickeys music center probably. Google them. Both the Bassi and the Schumann are fantastic pieces. You can't really go wrong with either of them. I personally tend to like the Schumann more, but that's just me.
