Hello:

I'm planning on being away for a few days between one lesson and the next. I will have some time to practice at my destination .I would like to know if anyone has and recent experience with taking their clarinet with them on the plane.

Thank you

yes, on the first of the month i packed my clarinet case in my carry-on and it was no problem. they did stop the belt at security and take a close look, but that was all.

Do not check your clarinet. It is VERY cold in the luggage hold. Could cause your instrument to crack if there is any moisture in it at all.

I've never had any problems. But my freind flew to an audition with his 4 clarinets (including Bass) and they made him put together and PLAY all 4 in the airport.

Yeah, they just do that to get a free concert. (he he). Actually I only had to do that once out of about 100 flights. There's a better chance if you are coming into the USA from another country.

There shouldnt be any problem. Make sure that you carry it on though. I would check the airline website just to be safe. The worst you will get is lots of stares......
