Hello,
I have been looking for a new clarinet to purchase and I need some advice, I found one in the paper for $600. A used Noblet Leblanc wooden clarinet that has recently been repadded.
I apologize, I`m not one that can assess the value of clarinets easily & I would like a second instrument as my younger brother has begun playing clarinet and I am planning on giving him my Vito II clarinet.
Anyway, another question, what company is known for making decent-good alto clarinets. I need one that isn`t necessarily top of the line, rather one that can be used and isn`t poor quality. I am currently renting some sort of wooden vito from school with a selmer C* mouthpiece.
I would tell you what run of alto clarinet it is, but I don`t know how to check that out, as I`ve never been told how.
Thanks,
Nyssa

Leblanc is good for any type of clarinet as well as Buffet. As for the ad with the clarinet in it...get the guy to meet you at a music store close to both of you...have the repair man check it over BEFORE YOU BUY it.
My father had to do that with my saxophone he bought me about 10 years ago...saved us $300 in repairs because the repair man caught things that were wrong with it that my father couldn`t...dad played sax since he was 10 years old.

if you can afford it, go with a buffet. depending on your skill, u might want to get an r13 or an e11. as u may know, r13`s are the most widely used buffet and are of course professional. the e11`s an intermediate instrument, but it would last through high school

Hi all
I`m an adult who has decided to learn the clarinet as a first instrument. I have a passion for jazz and that`s the direction I wish to take with the clarinet.
The problem I face is in finding out about various makes and models of clarinets so that I can make an informed decision about what to purchase.
To narrow things down a bit, I want to purchase a good quality wooden intermediate clarinet.
Can anyone give me pointers on makes, models, features etc... ?
Thanks in advance
