How often do you need to apply bore oil to a wooden clarinet?
Does it vary depending on the clarinet?
I recently bought a Buffet Cramponis.
Thanks

It depends on where you live...up north in the cold I had it applied twice a year to keep the wood from cracking...down here in florida it`s every other month due to the salt air.
I have a buffet from the 1930s so that also is taking into consideration.

There`s no need to oil a new clarinet. You may start to oil it until you observe some change in the sound, about 2 years later. Then you need to oil it about once every 3 months. Be careful don`t let the oil touch the key pads !
Good Luck.

Richard, no. By the time you`ve observed change in sound, it`s too late.
