We had band practice the other day and i realized that i always sound to sharp, so i took the tuner and played all the four C`s on the clarinet, and sure enough they were all sharp! Any tips on getting better tuning.

1) You could buy a longer barrel.
2) Whenever you set up your clarinet pull your barrel out - after a while you`ll remember how much it should be pulled out.
I think buying a longer barrel is your best bet.

NOw that is a problem I use to have. But my clarinet is really old (1940s era) and it had a short barrel.
I corrected it by having the company get the original wood out of the vault and make me a new barrel that was longer....I also had a mouthpiece made by a mouthpiece designer for my clarinet and SWITCHED reed brands....it helped big time.

Yeah, my clarinet`s about 55 years old, and I also have a pretty short barrel, but you know, I just learn to listen really really hard, anticipate how the note`s gonna sound and tune it with my embochure. It`s like way more accurate if you have a good ear, and people have complimented on my tuning. I`m like "well, thanks buddy."
