Hi there, as a sophomore in high school, I consider my primary instrument to be the B Flat Clarinet. I have been playing for a year and half now, but once jazz band has started, I made the switch to the alto saxophone. However, now I am considering (and currently am playing) the bass clarinet. I still play all three pretty regularly.
The only main problem is that I'd wish to pursue college. I have seen the talent out there. Along with my woodwind instruments, I also take private piano lessons for about two years now.
This may not seem like a huge problem, but I do have a couple of questions:
1) As a woodwind doubler, if I do pursue college, how good is the job market out there for woodwind players like me?
2) Without a private teacher and just my band director, will I be able to audition for college on my own?
3) Will I be able to achieve a Music Education degree and have job offers?
4) Will I will be able to get into any music school because I haven't had a private teacher of my own yet?
5) Any tips in general on being a succesful woodwind doubler?
As you can see, I have a LOT of questions... so I understand if they all aren't answered. I really do appreciate your time to answer this
