I am sooooo jealous you get to go to Paris! You should feel lucky instead of annoyed! Your chosen pieces sound good. I haven`t heard of all of them, but I`m sure that you`ve mastered them and will blow everyone away! I`m playing solo excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov`s Capriccio Espagnol, Beethoven`s 8 (easy!), the entire Mozart, Poulenc, Weber`s 1 and 2, and maybe Weber Quintet. I thought about doing Debussy but I only scheduled this audition recently so I wanted to be able to work on Rimsky and Mozart the most. This isn`t the only audition I have to do either! I have concerto auditions this Sun (Mozart - they wouldn`t let me do Copland :P) and a bunch of little things like teaching, chamber music and orchestra music to play. Its funny cuz i`m generally a high strung person but I`m actually enjoying this. Spending up to 6 hours a day practicing and being away from home all day either at a lesson, rehearsal or performance/audition. I guess that could be blamed on my obsession with classical music. Is there alot of clarinetists like that you think? And You never said if you`re graduating this year or not!

Good luck you two. I know someone who auditioned at Paris. She was amazing(a Neidich student in fact). She told me what a bugger it was. Good luck though. I remember my college audition days. As far as scales, I think that IU was the only school to ask for scales. I surely had the deer in headlight look when Klug said play an f minor melodic three octaves!

Sorry...I don`t recall. No, she did not get accepted. She was one of the top students at CIM, left to become one of the top clarinetists at Juilliard, and went on to USC for a masters. She plays professionally now, having been principal with a midsize orchestra. This had to have happened in the mid to late 90s.
