Bradley, I am so impressed, you have cracked it! I certainly do have a dreadful Indian clarinet, complete with red plastic pads. And I certainly was "done" on e-bay. I wanted a clarinet as I reckoned I could get a long way on my own with a tutor book - I did with a flute... and because I could get something like a scale out of it by fiddling around I thought it was okay until I asked a friend to check it out. I even gave the bloke excellent feedback. What a dope I am, he must have thought all his birthdays had come at once!
The linked information is fascinating, I am so grateful to you, and to everyone who has taken an interest in this.

Also meant to mention that I paid £67 + £14 post & package. And when I enquired about the instrument before I bid for it I got the sort of answers described on the elida page. What a lesson. I couldn`t live with myself if I unloaded it like that.

Well- I am glad I could be of service to you!
No problem though, because If someone needs help then I feel its only right to help them out as best as you can, and this info helped me out as well.
I hope the clarinet, if even as a second instrument will at least do you some good- because there are proper Albert system clarinets, and you can learn on one ( some people even prefer this key system to the regular Boehm system most people here play on) so this is not a total loss if the clarinet is decent enough as an Albert.....
Good Luck!
Bradley
Perfect practice makes nearly perfect!

the picture is an oehler clarinet. however the info in the given webby is also not reliable. the bohem clarinet is the widely common and accepted clarient. the oehler clarinet is not like what the web site has suggest that it is not suitable for music playing as a profession. for instance in germany, many professional clarinettists uses the oehler clarinet. i am intending to purchase one.
also, indians did not invent the clarinet their `clarinet` do not look like this.

Whoever you are, that picture is NOT of an Oehler clarinet. It is of an ALBERT system clarinet, which is much different. The Albert system is also basically unplayable for an absolute beginner because germans and other eastern europeans play the Oehler while France, America, England and other countries all over the world play Boehm for the most part with a few exceptions in either case. The Albert is rarely used anymore, and would be typically very hard for a young clarinetist to learn on. Make sure you know your facts before challenging anything, so you can be sure.

I bought a 1924-1925 clarinet 10-11 yrs ago at a flea market in Norht Carolina. the fingering is different from my Buffet clarinet that I still play. Some of the keys are different from today clarinets. But it is the same size of today clarinet. I am trying to find a 1924-1925 finer chart for this clarinet. The fingering is different when playing tuning note C of today clarinet need help toooooo thanks.

Hey you guys, LoL, I think the mystery has been solved. Gosh and NO it isn`t and Eb or Oboe! Sorry someone already mentioned before that an Eb Clairinet is EXACTLY the same keywork for a Bohem instrument and it`s just smaller in size and higher pitched. Yes, I am refering to an Eb Soprano Clarinet and not an Eb Alto. LoL, sorry about all that, but I play both the Eb Clarinet for a community band and the Bb and Oboe for my school band.

Also, these widespread (like viruses) Chinese clarinets of the brand Jinyin and other similar names are stinkers of the same calibre. If you see these on auction, quickly hit your "BACK" button on the screen, or simply close your browser to vanquish the pain. If you see them in a store, inform the business that its reputation will surely plummet for selling these cheaply manufactured plastic failures. They`re worthless and unplayable, mechanical abortions. If you already have one, make a lamp out of it and put it out of its misery.
