I can play it on the piano, but not on the clarinet. I`m not good enough yet.

Rachel, yeah tru it is mainly chromatic scales, but have you tried playing the whole piece together. I havent tried playing it for ages, but I would imagine breathing would be quite hard, probably harder than just hitting the runs.

There is a little bit in the beginning that takes a fair bit of breath to get through (but at the tempo it goes at it really isn`t that long), but in all the versions I`ve seen the soloist gets plenty of rests for most of the piece.

try the version in bonade`s 16 grand solos. no rests at all, apparently bonade thought he could circular breathe.

I will try that version. I can`t circular breathe, but I`m working on it.

the library perhaps? liverpool library (where i am) allegedly has sheet music of a basson version and a piano version (i think) so you can borrow it for about 3 weeks.

I found a recording of it on Kazza with a clarinet soloist being accompanied by orchestra. I`m not sure if it`s just me but it sounds like it`s tounged for the majority of the piece.

the complicated version on piano is really hard. the cramatic scales are easy but to do it really fast along with the bass, its can get annoying when your left hand his issues. now playing the song important event is shorter, but has too many cords going at fast speeds. i have to quit sometimes

Want to have fun at your next audition? Strange thought! After you put your instrument together absentmindedly burn off a small segment of Flight, readjust your instrument, look out the window, and notice the competition melt out the door!
