oki, i am looking for a clarinet solo for my next audition. i`m looking for advanced pieces especially. before i shell out the cash to buy music i`d like to listen to some samples of what the pieces sound like. right now i`m looking for these specific songs:
Soliloquies by Leslie Bassett
For an Actor: Monologue for Clarinet by Shulamit Ryan
Parable for Solo Clarinet XIII by Vincent Persichetti
if anyone has any suggestions for solos that are good i`d appreciate it, but if ANYONE even MENTIONS Arabuesques by Paul JeanJean....grrr...i`ve played that too many times this year

Not sure about recordings but the following solo repertoire is worth a go
1. Deak - Sonatina for Clarinet Solo (although you may have to go to an existing music library to get it as it is VERY difficult to buy)
2. Arnold - Fantasy
3. Brophy - Twist for solo clarinet
4. Stravinsky - 2nd and 3rd movements of Three Pieces for Clarinet Solo
5. Mayer - Raga Music
It depends on the kind of advancement and how long you have to prepare it but these are a good start...
