Hi, im mainly a sax and guitar player but i have a very old Eb clarinet that needs some work done. Id like to learn to do the work myself, this clarinet definetely needs to be repadded, and possibly recorked. I dunno if i can use cork on this, when i bought it all the pieces had red twine instead of cork, it was very worn so i replaced it with sewing string, it works but isnt the greatest fit. Id like to have cork put on if it can be done w/o permanently modifying the instrument, anyone know if that is possible? Also where can i find repad kits for these, and are the kits brand specific or are there "universal" kits as well? Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

corks shouldn`t hurt, and only do the pads if you learn how first, otherwise, you`ll be replacing them once a week, there are universal pad sets, try www.music123.com. they have everything you need. im in the middle of repairing two old clarinets myself.
