No such thing to my knowledge. A clarinet is a woodwind. The only stuff I`ve heard of them being made of is a silver-like substance, wood, and plastic. Perhaps it is possible one exists, but I don`t think there is.

I`d say that they meant a glass mouthpiece but I could be wrong

Hmm... maybe but very very expensive. I think there could be. Why are you all so doubtful? I`ve definately seen a glass mouthpiece before.

What the original poster was referring to was a clarinet made by Vito, that is clear plastic or some combination thereof. I do not know if LeBlanc still makes these, but there were certainly clear clarinets.

Think about it. They`re probably very expensive to make. That`s why there are so few. And LeBlanc has most likely stopped producing them. But, if you desperatly want this clear/plastic/ glass whatever clarinet, go for it.

I saw a clear(crystal) clarinet with plated keys(but not silver or nickel, possibly copper colored?) being displayed by a vendor at a Music Eduactors Conference in S.C. about fifteen years ago. I thought it was made by Buffet. I have been trying to look out for one but unsuccessful. Has anyone found out anything since?

Actually the most recent "clear" clarinets have been Buffets, with copper-like keys, not Vitos. MisterA- I saw a couple of these over the last 2 or 3 years sell on eBay. I`m sure if you check often enough and tell people to look out for them on your behalf you`ll end up with one in time. Now they have started production in the Marigaux factory on "Altuglas" instruments which is basically plexi-glass and looks a lot like actual glass. However, they are only making oboes and english horns out of this material. Possibly others have tried to do it with clarinets but they have not caught on....

I know a kid that has a glass mouthpiece that came with a glass clarinet. I have seen the clarinet myself so I know that it is not a lie. The kid uses the whole glass one for concerts and a glass mouthpiece with a plastic clarinet for practice. The glass clarinet is his fathers. I do not know that price of it.

In the past, O`Brien made a clear glass Clarinet Mouthpiece and will be re-starting produciton of these in the near future. I know this because I know the owner, Mr. O`Brien. These were very well known over 10 years ago and produced a beautiful, phenomenal sound.
