I just purchased a Vintage about 1 month ago. I tried Selmer Signature, Lablanc Opus II, Buffet R13, Festival, Prestige, Vintage. I did a blind test. Decided again Selmer because of it`s "subdued", closed sound. I didn`t like the the keys on the Lablanc. Of the Buffets, the Vintage (for me) was the freist (is tha a word) blowing, most flexible of the Buffets. Interesting the least expensive R13 came in second.
I also play alto sax (double on clainet). The technician working with me told me ahead of time I would pick the Vintage. Reason, it projects the best of the horns I tested and can handle large volumes of air. Apparently, sax players are windy. Remember, I picked the horn with a blind test, so there shouldn`t have been any bias.
After two concerts (both band and Jazz) and a month of practice, I love the horn.
