I bought a vintage buffet from my local market yesterday for just £50 it`s like brand new... first question how much are they normally? I think I got a bargain I couldn`t belive that someone would sell such a great insturment for that much.
I have always wanted to buy a saxaphone and learn that (I a bit of a Jack Kerouac poet), and I have been saving for a good one, then I seen this battererd old case on the market with a clarinet inside (as I said great condition) and thought i`d learn that instead. I spent all of last night playing on it and after a night I can play a little. It`s quite easy.
has anyone got any tips on playing better...except for practice. I`m completly new to the clarinet, and I think I holding it right... but I don`t know if I am. It sounds alright when I play it... how do I get them crisp high notes without sounding like a flock of geese???
THANKS

Which Model? Play clarinet after one night? Interesting that you say it`s easy.
Enjoy! Actually, saxophone is easier to play.

Playing tips
1. Plenty of air, and good air pressure.
2. Fingers close to the keys to allow for economy of movement.
3. Firm, but NOT TIGHT embouchure with even pressure all around your mouth.

More tips:
- Try to push the mouthpiece against your upper teeth when you play the high notes and blow. Make sure you have a good grip.
- Embouchure must be correct. Upper teeth biting but not too hard and lower lip covering the teeth and bring down chin. Make sure no air escapes from the side of your mouth when you blow.
