Glad to read that, I`ve just told the girl I`ll have it (for £300) and she`s taken it off to get the long Bb and something else repaired... I use the long Bb almost more than the normal now, so it HAS to work for me!

Any suggestions on mouthpieces people? My teacher suggested either a vandoren b40, or a 5rv?

I suggest go to the store and try out... I`m using the Vandoren 5rv and compared to my old Yamaha 4C (it came with the clarinet), the 5rv was SOO much easier to play. You will feel the difference between mouthpieces. You will know when you`re comfortable with one.

At the (strong) sugestion of my teacher) I switched to be the B40 mouthpiece from a B45 about 2 months ago. For the first month or so I had a real hard time with it - but now it is getting better. The sound is much more focused thanthe B45 - but I seem to get tired more easily. Anyone out there with similar experience ?

I`m just playing on a student model clarinet right now, mainly since I can`t afford a new one ^^; (Has 2 alto saxes, a tenor sax, 2 keyboards, acoustic guitar, and bamboo flute).

Basiclaly, I like the sound I have, so I don`t see a need to change instruments ^^;

hey ben, how are the Tosca clarinets working out for you, ive been thinking of selling my R-13 A and Bb for those, is it worth it?

My clarinet is a Buffet R13 (Bb) that was manufactured in 1982 and was hand picked by my clarinet instructor (Frank Ell) in 1983. I love my clarinet and have been playing it for 22 years.

I use a Vandoren B45, which I have been playing on for about 20 years now. (Brad, I don`t have the same experience with the B45 that you do. I really like mine.)

I use a Gigliotti ligature and have found no reason to switch. (I actually just bought 2 new ones after spending an hour looking for a vendor that carried them). I realize that the Roveners are the new fad, but I am comfortable with the one I have.

I use Vandoren V12 Reeds, Strength: 3

I am not a professional, I play in 3 community bands and I play the occasional alumni concert. 18 years ago I was a music performance major, though, and a lot of my preferences were set back then.
