I like, no love, De Peyer in earlier recordings.
Also like very much Piercy sound and style. I heard him play classical and some jazzy stuff. Great singing style on clarinet.

Let`s not forget Stanley Drucker, Gregory Smith, and Avrahm Galper. Three of the finest orchestral clarinetists of this and the past few generations.
Also, nobody`s mentioned Michelle Zukovsky, Dieter Klocker, Paul Meyer, Charles Neidrich, and Antony Pay.
Wow, there sure is a lot of good clarinetists around.

The best clarinetist in the World is Sabine Meyer!
You can`t doubt of it!
Just listen to her Mozart Clarinet Concerto k.622 or the Weber concertos...
Michael Portal is also a good clarinetist, but not like sabine Meyer!
I`m also a good clarinetist! LOL
I play since 1996.
I`m a intermedium student of clarinet.
Bye.

I really like Paul Meyer`s sound.
I have heard him play Pleyel`s Concerto in B Flat, and it is just incredible.

for really classical music lke mozart i like sharon kam, only she doesn`t have the best sound but the best technique and feel. modern calssical i like michel portal. there is a german clarinetist that has the best sound but i forgot his name.
in jazz, there is no doubt eric dophy is the best ever. no one was even close! he has the best sound and technique and everything!

B-Real, were you talking about Thomas Piercy??
I know him, and yes he is a very good player. Some things I`ve heard is a bit contemporary for me, but hey- the guy`s awesome.
Since I haven`t posted in a while- my new favourite clarinetist is Andrew Simon. My favourite german sound is made by Dieter Klocker- not Karl Leister cause I find Karl`s sound very boring at times. Ofcourse there are many great players and I couldn`t begin to name them all, but those are just a few a like the most.

charles neidich, and jonathon cohler are awsome, check them out!!!!! they are my heros right now, but there are many great clarinetist right now, some that are not nearly as famous, such as deborah pittman at California state university, sacramento, and laurie friedman-adler in New York.

Goodman man! I`m not into jazz but his stuff makes my hair stand on end. It makes everyone else`s stand on end when i try 2 play his stuff. I haven`t the talent nor the ambition but I can still pretend I`m him. btw, anyone know any sites that offer (FREE) and challenging songs with clarinet and guitar accomplaniment? Perferbly not classical or jazz, I guess punk`s going 2 far but just let me know.

I must say I do like Goodman best, and even though his try to play Mozart`s Clarinet Conzerto sounds a bit odd I like his way of playing it. It doesn`t have to be played in only one way. After all we do not know exactly how it was supposed to be played from the begining.
