Has anyone ever played this piece. I think I`m gooing to give it try. People have told me that this is a easier piece than it looks and is pretty fun to play, but I can spot a few areas that look difficult.

Intro, Measure 43
uh oh - upper altissimo

Variation Number One, Measures 9-12.
some sudden high notes jumping out from a phrase set in the lower clarion

Variation Number Two, Measure 4
Same as the variation one, but this time its going into upper alt

Variation Number Three
the entire variation is filled with some tough arpeggios

Coda, Measure 35-40
Ouch! Is it possible to play that run at that tempo and make it actually sound good at the same time? Oh well at least my edition has an ossia passage.

Are you playing on the ARS Instrumentalis edition? I always feel like I`m cheating myself when I play the ossia. Variation 3 isn`t that hard cause the key is simple. The articulation is relatively straight forward. That one is the least of my worries.

Section B of the first variation is hard and I`m having trouble getting to the G quickly. I`ve tried going to the left hand C (3rd space) before it and trying short Gs (ie. like overblown clarino Bb but without first finger) but nothing seems to work. Slowly, I can but the moment I speed it up, its a mess.

As for the run in the coda, it`s truly evil. I can`t get it smoothly and if I do, my tone is atrocious and the altissimo notes like the G# are so pinched and sound unsupported. I don`t know whether its just me getting tense cause I know it`s coming up and so my breath support falters. Do you have the same problems?
