I have a clarinet that has not been played in a long time. It appears the corks at the joints have become hard making assembly difficult. Is there any way to soften them? I did use cork grease.

YOu need to get them replaced if cork grease is not working on them.

The cork has "soaked" up to much grease, grime, etc.
