well our senior, honour, and concert bands haven`t chosen their festival stuff yet but I have for my junior band which I conduct. My Junior guys are playing Wind River Overture or Under an Irish Sky, their march is Barnum Woods.

our school is playing Pirates of the Caribbean and Selections from Chicago, maybe also Lord of the Rings, but we`ll see about that. I personally think Pirates is pretty good,it`s challenging.

my high school is playing some really cool music this year
two pieces by carter pann
1)Slalom, which might be some of the most difficult clarinet literature on the market today, think 16th notes in changing keys over evcery break imaginable for 32 bars at 176 beats per minute
2)American Child, this piece is an intonation nightmare, but once perfected which will never happen for most bands that play it, sounds gorgeous
a piece by tanner menard
Cosmic City Music, this is his second piece that he has written it lasts for 45 minutes and is very interesting because before you can play it there are some parts that must have a recording made of them so that they can be played with the band (very cool stuff)and our high school band is commissioning it so on the top of the music it says commissioned by the james logan high school wind ensemble
A piece by John Mackey
Redline Tango, one of the coolest pieces out there today with clarinet solos that rival those of rhapsody in blue. a recording can be heard at
ostimusic.com
no words can describe this piece of music you just have to hear it
A piece by micheal torke
Javelin, originally commissioned by the atana symphony orchestra for the atlana olypics
very heroic and very hard woodwind parts
frank ticheli`s symphony no. 2
all i can say is intense, havent really heard a recording yet
all this music makes for quite an incredible program
