It plays higher notes like F or G ok. For lower notes, like C, no sound or a very weak sound. It seemed to be blocked (but I know it is not blocked. What should I do? Help!

check screws and pads, thats all I can think of. I had a problem like that where I needed the pads replaced in a couple places.

Has it started recently or could you never get them out in the first place?

(1)The problem started recently.
(2)Check screws and pads? Can you be a little bit more specific? I`m a novice.
(3)The list says there are 4 replies, but I see only two when I click. How do I see the rest?

lol... the forum is weird.. there really were just 2 replies when you relpied again.

neways. make sure your covering all the holes properly. if air escapes out the holes then you get a really weid sound. heh. umm... maybe it`s ebcaue your not blowing hard enough? sooner or later your lungs will develop and you`ll be able to play the real high notes and the low notes and stuff. it took me about a few weeks to play the lowest note on my bassoon, same with the clarinet, and now i can play both of their lowest notes no problem.

another problem could be the screws and the pads. especially with the lowest notes on a clarinet (E and F) they work with keys and pads so if the pads aren`t on correctly they won`t effectively cover the holes.

are you in band? or do you have a private teacher? they will probably spot the problem.

oh, and maybe clean it with a drop cloth (that cloth with the string and the metal weight at the end).. my bassoon sounds clogged when it`s not cleaned b/c of all the spit... heh =)

I fixed the problem: It was a leak. I found the leak by shining light thru (X-mas light did).
Thanks.
