Do music stores actually hire out wooden clarinets? I was thinking of buying a wooden clarinet but I didn`t know they costed so much. (It was a Buffet E11 NZ$1395 second-hand).

that shouldn`t cost so much for a second hand E11, oh well, yes some music stores hie out instruments, not sure whether wooden or not, best to ask. Or find a second hand E11 for about $1000, shouldn`t be that hard

Thank you. But in New Zealand, things cost a lot more than in other bigger countries (1 US dollar is worth around 2 New Zealand dollars, and importing + tax means it cost quite a bit more). I`m probably going to just hire a Yamaha YCL250 for NZ$160.

It also depends on the age or the instrument for wooden ones.....secondhand or not.
If it`s over 10 years old it`s over $1000 because the wood is vaulted and it is very hard to get repaired.
(this is from my experiance with 5 wooden clarinets over 10 years old)
