hey everyone!

I`m going to america in 12 days with the school band and choir and i need a clarinet solo piece to play! So has anyone got any suggestions? They would have to either be available for free on the internet or could you send me them? Ideally the piece should have a piano accompaniment (cos we all know what its like doing a SOLO solo!)

I`m about grade 5 standard and i need suggestions quick!! It can be anything except pachelbel`s canon (because as much i love it, i did it last year )

Thanks!
Emily

Just because a piece has no accompainment doesn`t mean it`s going to be boring. Stravinsky wrote the nery frequently performed "Three Pieces for Clarinet Solo" and Rose wrote two very musical sets of etudes for solo clarinet.

Now, I suggest you pick something you already know in your repertoire to perform instead of trying to learn a brand new piece, especially when you are short on time.

But if you aren`t comfortable with anything, I suggest you go to your local music shop and pick up a copy of "Solos for Clarinet" (Carl Fischer ATF133, $19.95). It`s a HUGE book with 35 small pieces (some origional, some arrangements) that are relatively fast to learn ranging from performance levels 2-5 and contains works of Bach, Beethoven, Bizet, Chopin, Corelli, Faure, Grounod, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Satie, Schuber, Schumann, Wagner, Weber, and a couple of others. There`s no doubt you`ll find something here.
