Does anyone own a Backun product? I may be getting a Backun barrel this summer and I would like to know people`s opinions on their products that THEY CURRENTLY OWN OR HAVE TRIED. I don`t want any biased opinion from someone who hasn`t even tried them.

I got a barrel and bell from them just a couple weeks ago. The barrel actually made less of a difference in the feel than the bell. In my opinion, the barrel was a little underwhelming, but it did make a positive difference in the tone of the throat tones and intonation. Plus, they`re really not more expensive than other custom wood barrels.

The bell, on the other hand, is absolutely amazing. It will change the tone of your clarinet, making it a little darker and more resonant. But, more importantly, it really focuses the air going through your horn. This makes your clarinet more reliable on each and every note. So... you can trust your clarinet to do what you tell it to. Free from worrying about if a certain note will sound right, you can focus on making your music musical. And that`s worth every penny.
