I`ve been playing for a few weeks now and yesterday to my horror I found that my first (and most expencive) reed had gone mouldy!! It was totally ruined so i chucked it away. With my other reeds now i`ve been trying to make sure they are completeley dry after I use them. But i can never get them really dry. I`ve wiped it with kitchen roll and laid it out for 10 mins. I can`t afford to buy a reed case , because I`ve sorta spent all of my pocket money on the reeds and cork grease ect( at the moment I use a box with kitchen roll as padding!). I really need to keep them dry. How do`es everyone else do it. I can`t afford for any other ones to go mouldy.

When I didn`t have a case in which I could allow my reeds to dry, I would just lay them on a flat surface and let them dry that way.
I think you can still play on a reed that has molded as long as you wash all of the mold off then soak it in peroxide. I`ve done that and it worked fine.
