Hi! I was wondering if anyone could suggest some pieces for me. I have got my auditions for NYO, Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and various other places in september and really need to expand my repertoire... can anyone suggest anything good (I am grade 8) but not too difficult as I suffer from arthritis, and stage fright unfortunately, which make performing technically difficuly pieces practically impossible! I have played loads of Baroque sonatas and the Vivaldi concertos. I have also played the Weber and Mozart concertos! If you have any ideas either post them on here, or even better, e-mail me at crazy_pilch@hotmail.com

thank you!!

Hi, "Arnold" here....I would recommend starting on the study for NYO ASAP, so that you can get it as good as possible. Something like the Mozart would be good for auditions, but just make sure you PLAY IT WELL, make it sound really good. Yoou will be playing it a lot, so ensure it is something you like a lot as well

good luck

Technically, the Osbourne Rhyapsody can be faked through, but you need to be careful, because in order to play it well, you need to have a lot of musicality, intonation, and such. Many times, it`s ranked up there with the Mozart, Hummle, and Weber pieces in difficulty.

You`ve played lots of baroque and classical so how about branching out into some later stuff? I like Elgar`s Romance (only 2 really fiddly bits) and if you really want a challenge, Tansman`s Sonatine. Obviously the Mozart, Hummel and Weber are the classics to go for, but it might be nice to try something more unusual.

The Tansman Sonatine is really challenging so if you plan on doing it have it reall well prepared...especially the third movement(Scherzo)Or maybe you could do the Malcolm Arnold Fantasy for solo bassoon, although it's also extremely challenging/
