I have no experience with any woodwind instruments. but i am quite musical. do you think it is crazy for me to start playing the basoon with no woodwind background??

Not at all. The best high school bassoon player I know started as a trumpet player

just remember.... when in doubt, blame the reed. It has worked for me for 7 and a half amazing years. And never play on a plastic reed unless you're playing a solo on the sidelines for a marching band field show.
