I've read in the sax forum that naming your saxophone is common, but have any of you named your bassoon? I'd like to hear the names you've thought of.

okay well, naming you sax isnt common, we're just strange, and i'd name it 'amber' or 'bubbles'...
maybe 'twinkle toes' or 'dunce'
they just seem like bassoonie names

Triforce is right about us being strange. We've been responding to a post called "The Great Cereal Debate" to talk about the Trix rabbit and such. Read it!! It's quite interesting...

We did give a name to my bassoon at one of our concerts for my solo, I think it was "bassa-ma-oboe" or something...

Triforce: We do it all the time!! You'll see tenorsax13 in the oboe forum a few times (I posted something there, actually). I go to other forums because sometimes our threads aren't busy and no one's on. Besides, it's fun!!

there's also the fact that Saxophones are common victims of the stereotypical assumption that "I play Sax, but I switched to Bassoon" I am a music performance- bassoon major, and in High School, I actually tried to learn tenor sax. lol the tables have TURNED!
I started on clarinet, but switched to bassoon to impress the admissions office at a Charter school on the campus of the college I go to. I never got admitted to that high school, but I loved bassoon so much by that time that I kept playing for the pleasure. It has now turned into my passion, and that is why Woody has a name!

I played on a plastic for 5 and 1/2 years. It's called a school horn. lol
My parents bought me Woody for Christmas my senior year in high school. I cried so hard... *I love my Woody!*
