Dear 8notes.com Users -

I've been working on an Interactive Bassoon Fingering website that hasn't yet been "released" to the public. I am trying to find professional and student bassoonists willing to test it out (I'm a clarinetist) and offer comments and feedback. I've already gotten some great feedback from members of the IDRS forum, and last year you guys really helped me out with my oboe fingering website (at http://www.abctrainer.com)

If you can spare a minute, please visit http://www.bassoontrainer.com

The site is designed to be as user-friendly as possible, therefore I will not give any additional information... other than to say thank you in advance! Feel free to leave comments on this thread, which I will respond to quickly.

Sincerely,

Paul Hatton

P.S. I currently have 113 fingerings loaded in the database, and I'm considering adding a feature to allow users to submit their own alternates (so don't be upset if your favorite fingering isn't in there!)

I thought it was great. It's a good way to memorize fingerings if it's hard for you to just look at a fingering chart and memorize it. and the comments about the fingerings are helpful too.

Paul,

That interactive bassoon fingering website is awesome! I just finished with my second summer at ABC and I used your interactive oboe fingering website very often. Thanks for creating such great sites.

Question: when flicking for the Bb or B, which flicking key do you use? I am assuming that you use the A flicking key for A and the C flicking key for C, etc. What about Bb and B?

Any information you have to provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Michael

Michael -

Thanks! Glad the oboe site helped you this past year (I just finished my second summer as well).

From the fingerings I've found, the high A key is used for A and A#, and the high C key is used for B and C.

Just this morning I added a "note look-up" feature to the site, which will let you view ANY fingering for ANY note... but you won't be able to look up then answer the same note.

Thanks again!

Paul
