I have a Polisi bassoon, and I have been trying to look up information on Polisi's for quite some time and have always come up pretty much empty handed. I am actually looking to sell it because I have not played it in about 2 years . I know it is a very old bassoon because the serial number on it is 99, but it is in excellent and working condition. Does anyone know where I could find out a little more info/history about Polisi's?

As far as I know thre's 3 models of Polisi-Standard,Concert & Artist. Each with more keywork. Standard doesn't have high D or so many rollers. Artist has High E and Ab/Bb trill.All have 1st & 3rd fingerholes covered (key)although alot of them have had 1st cover key removed. I was told that Kohlert mede early ones until they went bust (mid 1960's)and then I think Schreiber made most of them after that. Yours is an early one so it might be Kohlert.They're very well made bassoons with a higher spec than most.The Polisi bocal tended to be a bit light-weight but with a good bocal the Polisi's a lovely instrument to play.

There is a "Polisi Artist model Bassoon. Made by Schreiber and designed by William Polisi" listed for sale on Ebay right now with a starting bid of $1200. You may want to keep an eye on that auction to get a feel for what you could sell yours for.

Where are you located? My 11 year old daughter is just starting to play the bassoon. She has a school loaner right now, but I'm trying to learn about the instrument so that we can get her one once I'm convinced she's going to stick with it. She loves it so far! I have no idea what yours is worth, but we may be interested if you want ot lsell it. We're in northern California.
