I jut switched high-schools, and my new bassoon i rented has six keys for the left hand. I've never seen this in my other rentals!Another problem is, i've been playing for 6 years, but never once with another bassoon, no one seem to play it at my schools . in that effect though, i just recently learned about Flicking. Can anyone give me some basics on this please?

Where or which fingers/thumb?

Flicking the A & C (plus high D if fitted)'octave' keys as you play the notes helps with making the appropriate notes just above the staff & the very high ones speak cleanly & in tune. Some people prefer to hold the key down for the whole note.

the keys are on the thumbs part, with the bocal facing you it the right set of keys.

Understand the six keys now. They're on the wing joint that the bocal fits in. The top one will be a high D & the bottom one a whisper key lock.
