Have you ever heard of guitar/bass guitar helping with bassoon skills for bassoonists with short fingers? I have heard it increases dexterity in your fingers, and gets them used to spreading out over large spaces. DO you guys think this is a silly myth, or does playing guitar/bass guitar help with bassoon skills?

I believe there is some common element to be found between any two instruments. There are universal skills that will help, as well as more specialized skills such as using a double reed. I wouldn't be suprised if bass helped your bassoon skills, but it wouldn't help those thumbs
