I play Bassoon during concert season, and I play Flute during marching season. My friend who also plays Bassoon plays Bass Clarinet during marching season, but I think he used to play Bari Sax during marching season.

I play xylophone for marching band, so does the other bassoonist at my school.

flute all the way during marching, but I can't wait for wind ensemble when I can finally get my bassoon out again.
Our show this year is metallica, and I have to say, it's pretty awsome being a "heavy metal flute"

I used to play clarinet for marching because that is what I started on. Now I play snare drum because we have a major shortage in percussionists.

BTW, Arcadia Highschool has marching bassoons. It looks so funny when they crash into each other XD I know I shouldn't be laughing, but I can't help it.

yeah it sucks you cant march a bassoon, but im learning sousaphone pretty quickly.

I play the alto sax in my marching band. My band director tried to convince me to play the glockenspiel, but I would have none of it.:P

i also have seen a video of a marching band with 5 or 6 bassoons that played them like saxophones and had sunglasses and suits and everything, looked like jazz players.
it was pretty cool

I have a score of a march that Beethoven wrote for a military band. Not only does he ask for 2 bassoons, he asks for a contra as well. No excuses then.
