I've played both oboe and bassoon before, and for a legitimate amount of time, I assure you.
Bassoon is much harder. Maybe you just find it difficult because bassoon has such a relaxed embrochure.

Because most young musicians are not started out on the bassoon but on something easier for them to handle, most everyone who now plays the bassoon played something else originally.

This means that you can adapt to the bassoon without much trouble, especially at your age. Go for it!
