Hi, i have two vintage conn bassoons. According to the conn web site the serial #'s date them to 1901 and 1902. Any info would be great, also what do you think these are worth in playable condition whether they are conn's or not? I think they are actually conn, but i don't know for sure. Please help, thanks!

From the information I have Conn did not make bassoons until about 1937. In 1950s & 60's they stamped German made instruments (Schreiber or Kohlert I think)with their own name. Maybe these serial numbers are the maker's ones rasther than Conn's. The US made ones I have seen all have the sax type headless pivot screws locked in place using a small grub screw in the post.
If from early 20th century the keywork would be more basic than modern ones probably without a whisper key or ring keys for RH1 & LH3 unlesss added later.

I think the serial #'s on the web site refer to single reed instruments.
Going on your serial #'s they would probably be Schreiber made bassoons from the late 1950's. All the Kohlerts I've seen have had 5 digit #'s.
