Hi there!
I would suggest a dutch le rest (its called something like that or similar!) its a contraption that is put on around the top of the bottom joint of the bassoon and has a rest which, as the name suggests, rests on the leg. all the weight will be placed on leg which is a lot easier than having it on your neck and i think it might be easier for you... the disadvantage with this is you most probably have to get a new case for it and you will have to put it down more often during long rests! i hope this helps anyway!!! http://www.foxproducts.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=acc918
